Internet marketing add-ons for your website
Here are some of my favorite website "add-ons" in my online marketing arsenal:
- Drop-into-screen boxes are useful for making special offers to your visitors and asking for newsletter signups. I'm sure you've seen them -- try this one. Here's a tool for setting it up.
- Splash page scripts are similar to drop-in boxes, and are excellent for make a special offer, display an advertisement, or soliciting a newsletter signup. Try this one and this one. Get your own code here.
- Keep your Internet marketing message constantly within view with CSS (just
like a did with the link in the upper-right corner).
Try this other demo. Here's the code:
<!-- This section goes in the header section of your page -->
<style type="text/css">
<!--
#BottomLine { position: absolute; left: 0px; bottom: 0px; width: 100%; background-color: #003366;
padding: 2px; text-align: center; border-top:1px solid #000000; }
div > div#BottomLine { position: fixed; }
-->
</style>
<!-- This goes anywhere in the body of your page - Change to your URL -->
<div>
<div id="BottomLine"><a href="../internet-marketing-newsletter/" style="color:#ffffff; font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;">For the most current advice, please sign up for our newsletter!</a>
</div>
</div>
- Encourage visitors to bookmark your site with this cross-browser "Bookmark Us" script (click to test). Set it up here.
- Get a homepage video spokesperson. I don't often recommend a paid service for Internet marketing, but having a trustworthy face providing a video intro on your website can be quite convincing. Try some of these samples. I don't recommend any particular company -- shop and compare actors by doing a search for "video spokesperson". Making your own video is possible, but is a real pain unless you have good lighting equipment, a green/blue screen for background transparency, and good Flash skills.
- Add social media links. Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, MySpace, linkdin,
Furl, Propeller, Xanga, Digg, and so many more -- these are the new way that
people communicate, and therefore the new way to market yourself. Even if
you don't participate, encourage your website visitors to share what they've
found on your site by adding social media and blog links on your site. Free
services like AddThis.com and ShareThis.com make this a piece of cake.
Mind helping with my Internet marketing right now?

Free Internet marketing tools and software
Open Office - "Open Office Writer", which is like a free version of MS Word, is great for making PDF eBooks without expensive Adobe software. I use this software to create real books for sale on Amazon.com
Audacity - This is a free software that records high quality MP3 sound files -- perfect for adding an audio introduction on your website, recording testimonials, or creating podcasts.
Camstudio - This free software lets you create screenshot movies of anything on your computer. It's perfect for creating demonstrations of your web service, how-to videos, etc. I use it to create how-to videos for upload to YouTube.
